Betty Brierley bequeathed £3,000 to our club. It has been decided to spend some of this on new Dawson balls for 2009 which should encourage more entries to tournaments. We are, however, looking for sponsorship for some sets of balls. Any ideas to Abdul who is hoping to attract funds during the off season.
Barbara Dutton has been awarded a grant of £100 towards the implementation of the new garden area on the other side of the path, this will then be the Betty Brierley garden.

Lawns and Grounds: Can anyone help Abdul resetting the lawns for the Musk Cup? Volunteers needed to hold the tape on Thu/Fri 14th/15th Aug. Proposed dates for 2009 Tournaments (to be confirmed to CA by beginning of Sept):
John Beech Easter 10th -13th April
Golf Croquet Handicap 18th - 19th April
B Level 16th - 17th May
Advanced 6th - 7th June
Midweek 7th - 10th July
Aug Handicap 29th - 31st August
(The All England Area Finals - date tba)
We may also attract the All England Golf Handicap Finals for 2009 and 2010. Should we be successful these would take place on 26th and 27th Sept 2009.
Catering for the above. It has been suggested that to relieve the stress on the few who do catering, people may offer to serve out meals they have not had to cook themselves and people who do not want to serve may offer to cook or provide main meals which can be placed in the freezer. In 2009 only light teas will be offered eg cake, scones and a drink as a good main meal often means large amounts of sandwiches etc are wasted. The club has a good reputation for its catering but we need to share this effort a little more fairly.

Wed 20th August: Ilkley are having an Official Opening and Pendle are sending two representatives.

Do have a look at the Website, it is full of news, photographs and information, poems provided by players etc. If you do not have your own PC equipment library staff are very helpful.
