Issue No. 96 May 2008
CROQUET OPEN DAY SATURDAY 14th JUNE FROM 10.30am
So once again we need helpers, cakes and books for the stalls and scones, quiches and small savouries to sell as refreshments. We will need to set up between 0930 and 0945. Help is needed in all departments: setting the lawns, the refreshments, the stalls and meeting, greeting and teaching those who wish to try our game.

We will also have the Tombola stall so prizes for that are also needed. Please bring any contributions you are able to spare on the day as cleaning and setting out will take place on the day before. This is a major fund raiser for the club, so please do your best to help.

New Rules: See the last Rush but please make sure you all have the correct handicap cards and that all single games are marked in them.

There is also an Annual Fixture List leaflet displayed on the Notice Board. So make yourself aware as there is often only one lawn available to club members on match days.

Lawns and Grounds:

Work on the lawns is ongoing, please check with Abdul to see if any help is required when you have time to spare your club. Barbara would also be pleased if you would check the flower tubs and water them if excessively dry. The watering can is in the machine store, usually on the filing cabinet.

Most Hoops now have one coloured carrot, this should be on the right facing the North boundary. Hoops are also numbered. These are both important as holes are very difficult to make in our ground, due to the boulder clay, and once set can be damaged by using the wrong hoop in the wrong hole. Some hoops have become twisted through over zealous hammering, we need a clamp or other device able to restore the hoops. Any suggestions?

Do have a look at the Website, it is full of news, photographs and information, poems provided by players etc. www.pendlecroquet.org.uk
If you do not have your own PC equipment library staff are very helpful.
