PLEA FOR HELP. The last quarter electricity bill was more than £100 over any previous quarter. It has been noticed that the water boiler has been left on for days , this is very expensive and should only be used for tournaments, boiling the odd kettle for matches use and washing up is preferable. The office lights have also been left on for days on several occasions and the pavilion lights left on when no-one is in there. Could the microwave be used for re-heating the odd pie and quiche for matches rather than the large oven.

MOWERS: With a very generous donation from Ted Fort and some very useful inside knowledge from Jeff Perris we have now acquired an ex- demonstration mower which is virtually brand new. The other mowers have been repaired and in order to keep all in tip top order, mowing will be restricted to three authorised mowers: Simon Beech, Geoff Whitaker and Abdul Ahmad. NO-one else should touch any of the mowers.

HOOP SETTING All hoops are numbered. Stand at hoop one facing hoop two. Please place the hoops with numbers on the right hand side and place the rest so that all the numbered sides are facing the same way, i.e in the same direction as those on hoop one. Irrespective of long or short lawns. This replaces previous instructions re numbers towards the pavilion or Cemetery Road. Please ensure you do this to preserve the tightness of the hoop holes and always use the hoop lifter to remove hoops.

Child Protection: There is a book in the Office, could everyone please make themselves familiar with the guidelines pertaining to children. However, we will currently only accept children together with a parent or grandparent accompanying, or, in the case of groups, with a qualified leader.

WINTER LAWN CLOSURE: The lawns will be closed from 31st October 2007to 15th March 2008, this is to allow them to be re-seeded and so that no scuffs, runs etc be set up in the wetter weather. This includes training. The New Year One Ball competition will be rescheduled, this may encourage more players to enter.

Anyone requiring keys to the club, please contact Peter Dowdall. There is a £10 deposit. Full instructions re club security will sent.

WINTER SOCIAL EVENTS: Wed November 14th Croquet Beetle Drive with supper £4 in the pavilion 7pm.Geoff and Maureen Whitaker hosting. Annual Dinner: We hope to book the Golf Club for Friday 22nd February 2008. Other events as members arrange. Any volunteers?
