Issue No. 89 May 2007
OPEN DAY SATURDAY 2ND JUNE 2007 10AM - 4PM
A choice of posters plus some car stickers are available in the pavilion. (Car stickers have an envelope glue on the short edges, just moisten and stick). By now you should have received some tickets to sell. Please return the monies to Peter Dowdall, before the 2nd June if possible. More tickets available from Barbara Dutton.
This year there will be cake and book stalls (NO bric-a-brac) plus a Tombola table and a caption competition.. If you have prizes for the Tombola table please leave them in the pavilion, in the office, before the date if possible but labelled for Tombola. Cakes are required for the cake stall on the day.
The bar will be open from 11am til 2pm, Walter Flattery will serve. There are some volunteers for the stalls but relief stallholders would be appreciated. Mallets and chairs need to be put out early. We also need as many people as possible to teach visitors the basics of croquet.
Neighbouring properties are being advised and invited to visit.

The unveiling of the John Beech Lawns plaque went well and we received quite good coverage in the press.Kathleen keeps an interested eye on the progress of the lawns, but as she said in her speech, they are much improved but not perfect yet.

If you can help with mowing, weed and feeding etc please contact Geoff or Abdul. The drag mat has arrived, so worm casts can be levelled. The mowers have been serviced at a cost of £600, so please take care with them and what you leave on the lawns. All equipment must be cleaned/emptied after use.
Also take care with the golf croquet scoring pegs, some are shedding their centre springs, please make sure these are picked up.

We welcome a new member: Hugh Armitage, 3 Rose Bank, Burley in Wharfedale, LS29 7PQ. Tel:01943-863059

Betty Brierley is still in the care home in Briefield but has her own landline and would welcome calls: 01282-449308. The builders are working on her home and she hopes she may be able to return by the end of June.
