Spring events: We will be unveiling the John Beech Memorial plaque at 0930 Saturday 7th April. Kathleen Beech will officiate. We hope as many of you as possible will be able to attend and possibly stay to watch the tournament as well. Annual Dinner was successful raising £445 for the club. Thank you to all who attended and gave generously. Open Day Saturday 2nd June, again we hope as many of you as possible will attend, bring your friends or help out on the day. Jobs to be done Still lots to be done although the list is diminishing on the one off jobs. Ongoing tasks need ongoing help. Lawns have been weeded and fed. The drag mat when it arrives will help with worm casts and top dressing. Labour is needed! The mowers have been serviced at a cost of £600, so please take care with them and what you leave on the lawns. All equipment must be cleaned/emptied after use. Committee meetings 2007. Wednesdays 13th Jun, 8th Aug, 10th Oct, 5th Dec. All at 7.30pm except Jun & Aug which will be 8pm start. AGM Sat 1st December 10am.All meetings are open to any member and are held in the Pavilion. Availability: Please notify team captains of the dates you will be unavailable to play in 2007 as soon as possible, e.g. holiday dates etc. These are: Liz Wilson for Advanced, David Pollitt for Handicap and the Secretary Shield, Short & Midweek Robin Delves, East Pennine League Roger Schofield, John Filsak Mary Rose, Golf Croquet Geoff Whitaker. We currently have no Club Captain so please try to help team captains by providing this information promptly. The John Beech Memorial Fund: To this end a fund has been set up for donations. Currently 8 people have contributed. Please send to Peter Dowdall, Treasurer, cheques made out to Pendle & Craven Croquet Club and make it clear that the cheque is for the fund. Association Fixtures 2007 entries are coming in and we are pleased that Jonathan Isaacs, Chair of the CA has entered for the Over 50's. Golf Croquet Tournament only 5 entries so far. Please get your entries in the Geoff Whitaker as soon as possible. There are forms in the pavilion, or contact Geoff with your details as there is not much time left to enter. Subscriptions for 2007: 37 members have paid their 2007 subs and received their new year books. If you haven’t got yours yet, you haven’t paid or you need to contact Peter Dowdall. Amendments to yearbook: delete John & Stacey Blades and William Fishwick. Add David Turner, Newcastle as Far Country Member. These will be held at Earby on 1st & 2nd September with Peter Wilson as Manager. See attached form for all club competitions, get your entries in! Plea from Maureen Whitaker: Does anyone own a carpet cleaner and be willing to clean the pavilion carpet which has got very dirty during the close season. Contact Maureen.
