1st July Thursday we host a German church exchange group from 6pm to play and for a buffet. There are 24 visitors so any help would be appreciated by Maureen & Geoff who arranged this.

Dawn Speer and David Venn are making good progress but Mary Frankland has had a fall and broken the top of her femur and her right wrist. She is currently in Ward 10 BGH but hoping to transfer to the Pendle hospital, Nelson shortly. She welcomes visitors.

OPEN DAY attracted 40 visitors who all enjoyed the lovely weather and the hospitality and we made £163 profit.

LOST AND FOUND Peter Dowdall’s John Beech mallet disappeared on Open Day. Can you all check you haven’t taken the wrong one home, yours is probably in the machine store with the club mallets. The green table cloths have returned, found lurking in a large cooking pot at the Sailing Club.

Teams of Four are invited to play in the Bury CC Golf croquet Grass Roots and Centre Stage competitions to be played at Bury on Saturday 7th August. Grass Roots is handicaps 9-12, Centre Stage is 5-8. Geoff Whitaker has details.

ANNUAL DINNER I know we already had one but it has been decided to hold the annual dinner and prize giving at the end of the season in future, so this year we have two. The date has been fixed for Friday 22nd October 6.30 for 7pm. Booking forms available from Geoff Whitaker or Barbara Dutton via email.

Please return it to Geoff Whitaker with your choices and cheques before the end of September.

INTERNAL COMPETITIONS..........most are going well The Short competition list should be available shortly, contact Peter Dewhurst for details.

CATERING It is requested that you continue to pay 25p each time you make a drink in the pavilion so that further supplies can be purchased.

Caterers are now sorted for the Midweek tournament. Contact Maureen if you can help on the 28th or 30th August and Sept 4th and 5th.

Equipment. Don’t forget to begin play away from the corners when playing club Golf croquet to protect them for matches.

The Dennis mower has a new cutter costing £638, we hope that with fewer worm casts this will last us a long time. Shallow hollow tinning and sanding will take place after Oct 27th.

Neighbours have alerted us to the fact that the office light keeps being left on. Please remember to switch it off. Geoff is going to make a hole in the door to try and make this omission easier to spot. Walter Flattery is making changes to the outside lights so that they are isolated from the alarm system.

We are to purchase the trailer Robert Sagar uses for the club from the Parish council.

COMMITTEE MEETINGS Next committee meeting is on Monday Aug 23rd 10am. Send matters for agenda to Geoff 14 days before.

Keep checking the web site for information: and send Abdul Ahmad (webmaster) anything you wish to be circulated there.
