Jonty Parkinson is back home and awaiting an operation for a stent fitting, David Venn is also awaiting results re his vein claudication issue. We wish them both well.

The Colne Noyna Rotary, a party of 20-24 persons have booked to play and have a buffet supper on Tuesday 8th June at 6.30pm.
Helpers for this event are required to assist Maureen and Barbara Wilkinson who are doing the catering and to set up the lawns, start the games off and look after the equipment afterwards.

We currently have 50 paying members. In 2006 we had 68. The Open Day on 26th June is another opportunity to interest visitors in becoming members. Please support the day in any way you can. Car stickers (envelope glue on the short ends)now in the pavilion together with some flyers. Tickets and posters will be available shortly. Please do your best to promote this event. Barbara Dutton will supply any of the above that have run out! We also need cakes and books to sell on the day and a few helpers would be nice.

Work Parties continue although a lot of hard work has been done the two far huts need painting and the office carpet tiles still to be laid.

We will visit the Ilkley Croquet Club on Thursday 24th June for friendly games, let Geoff Whitaker know if you are able to attend. 01282 865565.

Teams of Four are invited to play in the Bury CC Golf croquet Grass Roots and Centre Stage competitions to be played at Bury on Saturday 7th August. Grass Roots is handicaps 9-12, Centre Stage is 5-8. Geoff Whitaker has details.

The Beverley Team have withdrawn from the East Pennine League competition for this year. The Belsay Hall team have been refused permission to play on their lawn after August so the 12th Sept fixture is moot.

The ‘B’ level competition raised some issues: Lawn 5 hoops need re-balancing as it is a smaller lawn. There is working party, Thu 27th May, to reset hoops and re-measure lawns ready for the Advanced Tournament.
Any loose holes should be packed with grass clippings not sand.

INTERNAL COMPETITIONS.......... get playing the lists are on the board* in the pavilion and those entered in the Aston Trophy are time limited in order to get through in time for the All England. The Short competition list should be available shortly.

CATERING Unfizzy soft drinks have been provided by request, they are in the bar. If food kindly provided for the freezer can be labelled if for a specific match, also labelled with date made and number of portions it should serve. After a match can perishable food be taken home, except for cake which can be left in the boxes provided, for club use.
We still need someone to help on Sun 20th June the Advanced Tournament, Thu 8th July the Midweek Tournament, and both the August BH weekend and the All England in September. Please contact Maureen if you can offer help on any of these dates. Please note that the individual wine bottles have shrunk to 187ml and the price has been shrunk accordingly. TRAINING We are beginning a series of Golf to Short conversion courses. Please tell Ron Welch if you would be interested in this. It is expected that initially these would be 4 sessions run twice a week. Four pupils at once. A few members had a taster session on Monday. It has been decided to extend Club Day in the summer to dusk on Mondays in order to facilitate play for those in work. Please support this and invite working friends along to try.
Equipment The blanket from the pavilion has returned, the green table cloths are still missing. Don’t forget to begin play away from the corners when playing club Golf croquet to protect them for matches.

COMMITTEE MEETINGS Next committee meeting Monday June 28th 10am. Matters for agenda to Geoff 14 days before.

Keep checking the web site for information: and send Abdul Ahmad (webmaster) anything you wish to be circulated there.
