AGM: Sat 5th Dec 10am.

Thank you to all those who turned up. Subs were raised by £5 pp apart from Junior and non playing members. A renewal form is attached with the correct fees. This small increase may help to offset the large expenditures in 2009 which have reduced our capital considerably. All officers remained in place there being no other volunteers coming forward. Robert Hall would like an understudy for the white lining as he is not always available. Please contact him if you are willing to share this job, usually necessary just before a match or tournament. .

David Venn resigned from the committee but is kindly willing to continue to maintain the playing equipment. Ron Welch, our newest member has been co-opted onto the committee bringing his expertise from Ramsgate croquet club.

A plea from the Bar Committee for members to only use one prepayment bar card at one time to ease the task for the Treasurer.

The rule change proposed by Hugh Armitage was accepted. Please amend your Rule books re Rule 6.11(c) & (d) to read:

6.11 SUBSCRIPTION

(c) Members joining for the first time more than halfway through the year shall be charged half the annual subscription except where rule 6.11 (d) applies.

(d) Members joining during the last quarter of the year pay the full annual subscription. This also confers membership for the following year without further payment.

Green fees are still available at £4 per day for anyone not wishing to join at the time. Such players must be accompanied by a full member.

Team Reports:

Advanced League - John Filsak:

This year we played under different rules teams of 3 instead of 4 and all played all, so most games were limited to 2hr15mins. Seven teams played and Pendle finished 4th but only 2 points behind the leaders. Team players were Andrew Webb, Abdul Ahmad, David Pollitt, John Filsak, Robert Essler and David Roe.

NW Handicap League - David Pollitt:

We won the League having won 7 games out of the 8 played. Team players were: David Pollitt, Andrew Webb, Abdul Ahmad, Robin Delves, John Filsak, Catherine Parnell, Howard Bowron and Peter Dewhurst.

MW Short League - Peter Dewhurst:

Shaky start as there were many cancellations of fixtures but a strong finish. Lost the last game to Llanfairfechan. Finished mid table. Team players included Roger & Kathryn Schofield and Dawn Speer had her first matches.

It was suggested that the club run a series of short games at the beginning of the season for all club members to get a feel for the game.

NW Midweek League - Robin Delves:

Bowdon Earls won the league but there were 4 teams on level matches behind them. Pendle came mid table as one big 7-0 losing match left us behind on points. Team players were Andrew Webb, Robin Delves, Robert Essler, John Filsak, Abdul Ahmad, John Snowden, Howard Bowron and David Pollitt.

NW Golf League - Geoff Whitaker:

We lost the first match away at Llanfairfechan 18-4, lost v Bury 12-10, won v Bury S 13-9, won v Chester 15-7, drew v Culcheth 11-11, drew v Fylde 11-11 and lost v Southport 13-9, so with a Lost 3, Drew 2 and Won 2 we finished 4th.

New member Jonty Parkinson played well in two of the home matches.

East Pennine League - Robin Delves:

Nice people, nice venues the difficult part is getting 2 advanced players available for each match. We won 17 and lost 11 games.

Mary Rose - John Filsak:

We lost in the first round to Cheltenham who went on to win the tournament.

Longman Cup - Robin Delves:

We had a good run but beaten narrowly by Bowdon 4-3. Eventual winners were Bury.

Secretary Shield - David Pollitt:

Pendle has competed in the tournament twice before but this time we won it. Great thanks to Roger Schofield who came in at the last minute for final game. All team players thanked. Nice to see Norman Hicks, one of our founder members, come out to support us.

Members Handicaps:

Please submit your current handicaps to Robin Delves, John Filsak or Geoff Whitaker for the coming season. They are also needed for the Yearbook, so let’s have them soon.

INTERNAL COMPETITIONS:

The Team captains will arrange their own format for each discipline: Geoff Whitaker - Golf, David Pollitt - Full lawn Association, Peter Dewhurst -Short lawn.

COMMITTEE MEETINGS:

Next committee meetings Mondays January 25th & March 22nd at 1030am in the pavilion. Any member may attend but not vote.
