SAD NEWS:

Margaret Perris, wife of Jeff, our groundworks advisor, has died after a long illness. Our sincere commiserations to Jeff and his family.


NEW MEMBERS:

We welcome Ron and Joan Welch, formerly of the Ramsgate Club.


RESULTS:

Erratum Re David Pollitt led his team to victory in the Secretary Shield, Should read that we are one of 6 northern clubs to win the trophy.


Groundwork:

JanMcLardy led a team of volunteers after the committee meeting to lower the Cemetery Rd hedge. She would like to do the same with the other boundary hedges and members will be notified which date to arrive with gloves and energy and cutters if you have them. The committee is looking into remedial work for lawn 4. Worm deterrent has been applied so that should cut down on worm casts and maintenance costs on mower blades.


WINTER EVENTS: :

Friday 13th November went well and we raised £100. With this edition we also have the MENU for Annual Dinner. Please make your choices, get the event in your new diaries. Before that we have the Croquet Beetle Drive on Tue 26th Jan, supper and fun for £5, by Geoff and Maureen. Then on Sat Feb 13th Robin and Peter Dewhurst are going to host a soup, cheese & wine lunch, DETAILS tba.


AGM:

Sat 5th Dec 10am. Nominations for all posts must be submitted in writing 7 days prior to the Acting Secretary Geoff Whitaker.

Hugh Armitage has proposed a change to the subscriptions rule 6.11 for members joining part way through the year: For members joining after 1st July they pay half the fee for that year, members joining in the last quarter of the year pay the full fee for that year but this would take them to the end of the following year. Other times people pay the green fee currently £4 per day**. It is proposed to raise the subs by £5 pp, except Far Country which will become £30 and no raise in Junior or non playing members fees.

N.B. Guests paying green fees must have their names entered in the diary for that day and have the green fee entered alongside, fee to go in the Green Fee Pig. All guests must pay a green fee after their first visit (not including Open Day).


NORTH WEST FEDERATION AGM:

The Federation offer a Flying Circus of trainers for both Association and Golf and we shall apply for early in the season. This is free so please take advantage when notified of dates.

The Federation has agreed a new disciplinary procedure for matches and tournaments. Complaints must be made in writing within two weeks of the offence and the NW committee will decide whether to progress with the complaint and if so raise a tribunal. Offences at Club level to be dealt with at club level.

(B) Chicken Supreme filled with black pudding, apple & coarse grain mustard, & mustard sauce
(C) Salmon fillet roasted with a herb crust & caper butter sauce

All served with seasonal vegetables and potatoes

DESSERT:

(A) St. Clement’s cheesecake & double cream
(B) Dark chocolate sponge with bitter chocolate sauce
(C) Cheese plate with grapes and celery

Followed by Freshly Filtered Coffee and Mints
