30 May 2010 Pendle defeats Fylde 6-1 in the CA Longman Cup Knockout Tournament at Home. Report by Liz Wilson Pendle: Abdul (4) Andrew (4 ½ ) Robin (11) Peter Dewhurst (18) Fylde: Martin (8) Terry (10) Betty (14) Ian (16) Again the day was basked in glorious sunshine. Betty, playing against Abdul, took her first ball round using only 3 of her 10 bisques but then got bogged down with the 2nd ball and lost narrowly. Ian had a close game against Robin but was beaten on experience. Martin and Terry, playing the sacrificial doubles had a turgid game against Andrew and Peter with the score being only 4 – 2 after 2 hours! Eventually as time neared Andrew took a ball round and they won convincingly on time. Score 3 down to the good guys at lunch. In the afternoon Martin’s lack of form continued as he lost the game against Abdul who was on good form. The match was lost. Betty also lost to Robin and Ian (playing without any bisques for the first time) had another close game against Peter Dewhurst but lost. The only win was Terry’s game against Andrew thus avoiding the whitewash.
