Pendle emerges victorious against Belsay Hall in the East Pennine League. Report & Results by John Filsak.
Cartoon by Jack Shotton.
Jack Shotton's cartoon depicting Phil Errington's utter despair at Belsay's defeat at Pendle. The main highlight of the East Pennine League match on August 8 against Belsay Hall was Abdul's pudding. After much whisking it sat in the oven for an hour and emerged as a light nutty topping floating on a chocolate-coffee sauce. And it was served with cream. An excellent complement to the chilli con carne and baked spuds of the first course.

And it was a lovely day.

And, incidentally, we also played some croquet. A lot of the matches were quite close, and Belsay took advantage of the opportunity to play advanced handicap games in the doubles and one of the advanced singles matches. In spite of this they never troubled the scorer as Pendle and Craven emerged 7-0 victors.
