Pendle’s holds on to beat Bowdon in the NWFCC Short League match at home. Report by Catherine Parnell. Pendle: Abdul Ahmad, Catherine Parnell, John Snowden and Dawn Speer Bowdon: David Holland, David Tumbridge, John Coventry and Alison Court Thanks to Abdul and Peter Dewhurst's amazing water sweeping the lawns were (just about) fit for play on this slightly less than weather perfect Saturday morning. In good spirits and soggy trainers Pendle were off to a good start at the end of round 1 with a 3-1 lead. The success rate continued to lunch with a healthy 6-2 on the score sheet. After a smashing feed and less washing up than usual thanks to Maureen we once more donned layers and waterproofs for the afternoon session. Although our stunning lead was slightly diminished at the close of round 3 to 8-4 we were confident that with just one win... Bowdon were not going to let us get away with it that easily and after a hard fought last round with not one, not two but three Pendle losses we just held on with a +1 on time win. It was all we needed. The final score after a super day was 9-7 to Pendle.
