Ode to Pendle.

We've had some fun, we've had some laughs
We've had mostly good weather, and some fine repast;
Robin scored success and Dave pegged out the best,
Georgeen won one and Jim's win was a plum!

Joe's dour determination warranted satisfaction,
And Dennis' sly tactics caused many to fail manly,
But the prize for the manager was to be the top player.

Congratulations to all, participants and chefs
Not just for competition but food and repletion.
Pendle's reputation intact for meteorological events
Did not prevent much merriment.

So once more to a homecoming and a lawn that needs trimming
Some practise is needed if I am to be seeded
But to one and all who partook, many thanks for the sport
And to Jim (87 this week), may I meet you in heaven.
