Pendle comes to grief at the first hurdle in the Mary Rose at Cheltenham. Report by John Filsak. It was a lovely day at Cheltenham when we turned up for our Mary Rose fixture. The sun shone and the lawns were tricky, with brown and green patches. We came with high hopes, but they put up a strong team, with the result that Robert Essler was the only Pendle player to win a game. All the games were close, but... Cheltenham 6, Pendle and Craven 1.
