27 September 2008 Advanced Team defeats Bowdon Canons at home. After our Mary Rose team had seen off Bowdon on Friday, another Bowdon team, the Canons, turned up on Saturday to try their hand in the Advanced League. This was a match we had already tried to play in July, but the lawns sank below the waves when Bowdon were 2-0 up and leading in all the afternoon matches. This time we finished the match, beating them 6-3 and gaining quite a few league points in the process. Surprisingly, their top player, Colin Irwin, gave everybody a number of chances, but no one was able to take advantage of them to beat him.
