20 September 2008 Robin Delves wins the 2008 One Ball Internal Club Competition. First there were 11. Then as the weeks passed by the numbers gradually became 10, 8, 7, 5, 7 and finally 5. The five keenly fought for this year's title of the One Ball Champion. It was a bright hot day. Decision made initially to play each other twice was shelved as some players wilted in the heat! With no time limit imposed, play was tediously slow. Lunch was taken after 3 rounds were completed. The ultimate match between Peter Dowdall (3/3 wins) and Robin Delves (2/3 wins) would decide the outcome. Tiredness cost Peter the match. He forgot to use his allocation of bisques against Robin and lost by a narrow margin. Although both players had 3 wins out of 4, Robin won by the virtue of beating Peter in their individual encounter.
