9 September 2008 Pendle bounces back to victory at Southport. Pendle team started their journey to Southport in rain from Halifax and Pendle. Weather didn't look promising along most of the route. The Pendle travellers experienced long delays on the A59. The Halifax journeymen had to cope with the M62 traffic. Both were late arriving at a surprisingly dry and plesant Southport. A time limit of 3 hours was agreed. Doubles matches began at 10.30. John Filsak's institance that Robin took bisques to get his break established paid handsome dividends. Using two bisques Robin did an immaculte break to rover. John and Robin beat Bob Burnett and Diana Williamson comfortably well inside the time allowed. Captain David Pollitt and Abdul Ahmad won their match on time. Southport laid a gorgeous meal at break. The weather remained kind for a while at resumption. Abdul Ahmad and John Fisak enjoyed relatively quick victories in the single. David Pollitt won a close encounter against Tony Thomas in torrential rain. Robin's match against Diana was unresolved. The lawns were convereted into several lakes!
