31 August 2008 David Tunbridge wins the All England handicap Championship Area Finals on 30 and 31st August at Pendle and Craven Croquet Club. by Barbara Dutton Players who qualified through their own clubs competitions at Pendle, Bowdon, Bury, Fylde, Huddersfield, and Southport came to Earby to compete for 3 places in the finals of this year’s event to be held at the Roehampton Club on 13/14th September. With one dry but humid day and one very wet one the players were challenged by conditions as well as their opponents. After some very close matches the three going forward to the finals are:- 1st place with 5 wins out of 5, David Tunbridge from Bowdon. 2nd place with 4 wins out of 5, Malcolm Daines from Huddersfield. 3rd place with 3 wins out of 5, Eileen Gallagher from Southport after a 5 way tie break.
