Terry Vernazza wins the NWFCC Millennium Handicap Tournament 2008.
Twelve Summer Solstice revellers disguised as Croquet players braved the rain and gale
force winds and gathered at Pendle to compete in the NWFCC Millennium handicap
Tournament held on the Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd of June. The lawns withstood the deteriorating conditions on Saturday and remained firm throughout the weekend. The standard of play was suprisingly of high quality under the circumstances. Terry Vernazza from Fylde lead the Swiss event after 3 rounds with a 100% record.
On Sunday gale force winds replaced Saturday's driving rain. 3 players remained in contention after the 4th round. Terry held off a late challenge from Robin Delves in the final round and won the tournament undefeated.
