Monk's House B&B - For Sue. By David Turner If ever you're in Pendle and You need a place to stay And all the camping sites are full And home is far away. Then go and lodge at Barnoldswick, At Monk's House on the Hill, Number Five Manchester Road, They take in guests there still! Everything is all en sweet, But the sweetest thing is Sue! The rooms are very comfortable With showers in them too! If you're a body builder The breakfasts are to suit Or if you're emulating Posh There's freshly peeled grapefruit. But do beware just who you ask For advice on where to walk, Sometimes Sue gets overwhelmed By all the work and talk. When she feels she has too many Demanding guests to stay She sends them up to Pendle Hill By her secret way. They quickly find the place to start The climb up Witches' Hill But once they get onto the top It won't be sunny still. Sue knows the local weather lore Predicting thick witch mist Upon the top of Pendle Hill When cool breezes persist. You'll walk in circles in the fog All the remaining day And if you try to guess the path Deep bogs will bar your way! Sue might send out the rescue team Or she might just say, "O hell!" And get her little tent out And go camping for a spell! Yet if you have come to Earby To play at the croquet club Monk's House is the place to rest And relax in the tub. A meal and a pint at the Fanny Grey Will set you up just right It is not far up Manchester Road And you're sure of a jolly night. But three, three-hour tournament games Take it out of us old men - By ten o'clock we're ready for bed To get up early again. | |||||||
